I’m starting to realize that I’m REALLY fussy over what I read. So when I tell you that Wyso is an amazing book, I mean it’s an amazing book. I loved it so much, that I grabbed up the second book. Clara has this awesome ease with words that reminds me of Stephen King without the pages of narrative. She gets to the point and she has some really beautiful prose in her books. I give Wyso five stars!

Man’s Best didn’t waste any time getting to the action. Again I was spellbound by Clara’s writing. She has a way of pulling you into the story and introducing you to characters you feel as though you’ve known your entire life. I think that’s one of the main things I love about her books is that you get a sense for the characters and she does it in such an effortless way.

What is perhaps most impressive about this anthology is how each story is distinct in tone yet still within the same theme. At no point do you feel as if you have been here before, despite the plot having deliberately circular aspects. I imagine Clara Bush could turn her hand to many different genres as the narrative leaps effortlessly from science fiction, to horror, to romance and occasionally something approaching the more transcendental. The books are written with flair, heart and a great deal of creativity and I imagine many people will be getting a lot of joy from them.

Wyso and the Other Creepy Kids on Gerard Street by Clara Bush starts out really strangely with a language that is not recognizable. Do not let this deter you from reading on because it will all come together later. Also this book is not exactly what it may seem to be even as you read it. The story is character driven with the main character being Wyso, a young girl whose parents are not capable of caring for her. Throughout the story we get to see her grow up with the help of the boys in her neighborhood who take care of her. They all meet in their Alien Hunter clubhouse even as they get older. All of the children are a little odd but they are also normal kids growing up and falling in love. The supernatural twists that this book takes will not disappoint readers but also does not overtake the plot from the fabulous characters.
